The Catholic Democratic Labour Party Has Gained A New Parliamentary Member And Leader With A Former Liberal MLC Defecting.

Laudetur Iesus Christus.

Melbourne - The predominantly Catholic and conservative Democratic Labour Party has welcomed a defection from former Liberal Member of the Victorian Legislative Council, Bernie Finn.

Mr Finn was first elected to the Legislative Council in 2006 and, prior, was a businessman and member of Victoria's lower house from 1992 to 1999.

This is not Mr Finn's first stint in the DLP; prior to being a member of the Liberal Party, Mr Finn was a member of the DLP, even running as their candidate in the 1980 federal election.

Mr Finn has been criticised for his conservative views, even to the extent that he was expelled from the Liberal Party for posting anti-abortion material on social media.

Mr Finn is a practising Catholic.
