The Only Newspaper of Australia's Capital City Has Launched A Hard-Left Push To Legalise Euthanasia

Canberra - The Australian National Capital's only print newspaper has launched a harsh bid to back a pro-euthanasia push by the Territory's Progressive Labor/Greens Government which is also backed by the Territory's Liberal Opposition.

The Canberra Times Front Page - Tuesday July 21 2021

Under a Federal Law passed by the Liberal Party's Kevin Andrews, a strong Catholic and conservative, Australia's Capital and Northern Territories are prohibited from enacting legislation about euthanasia or assisted dying.

This was the Euthanasia Laws Act of 1997 which states "The [ACT Legislative] Assembly has no power to make laws permitting or having the effect of permitting (whether subject to conditions or not) the form of intentional killing of another called euthanasia (which includes mercy killing) or the assisting of a person to terminate his or her life."

Recent pushes by progressive members of parliament to have the law overturned have received substantial media attention, and in such a degree that the matter is now being spearheaded under the title of 'Territory Rights', with The Canberra Times headline reading "Time to restore our rights".

Archbishop of Canberra and Goulburn, The Most Reverend Christopher Prowse said to the Catholic Voice earlier this week that; "[Politicians must remember that the Church] offers the most sizeable health contribution to the vulnerable who encounter end of life issues [through palliative care]."

Vox Fidei encourages members of the community to get in touch will politicians who will soon debate the matter to let them know about the sanctity and value of life;

When asked about the matter, Mr David Smith MP said that he personally opposes euthanasia. Mr Smith has previously voted in favour, and continues to support giving the both territories the right to decide whether or not they can pass their own euthanasia laws, an action which would inevitably lead to euthanasia being made legal within his own Canberra electorate.
